All Parents Are Welcomed Back During The Child's Visit

We recommend that your child’s first dental visit take place sometime after their 3rd birthday. We find that this initial visit is one of the most exciting and rewarding times. It gives us great pleasure to be the ones to introduce your children to the world of dental care. As with every type of appointment in our office, parents are welcome to accompany their child to the treatment area so that they
can participate with them in all aspects of their child’s visit.
At your child’s first visit, our experienced staff will spend a great deal of time introducing your child to the many new things that they will see, through what we call the “Tell, Show, Do” method. This is a technique where we begin by telling the child what we are going to do. For example, we will tell the child that we would like to count their teeth using a little “tooth counter”. Then we would proceed to show them the tooth counter, often times counting to 10 on their finger nails (which are hard like teeth), and explaining to them that this is how we will be counting their teeth. Finally, by the time we are ready to do what it is that we have been showing them, they are at ease and eager to proceed. We approach all procedures in this manner.
We also recognize that all kids are different. Some children may be ready to have their teeth cleaned at their first visit; others may only feel comfortable having their teeth examined. Our goal at the first visit is to expose your child to a warm and positive atmosphere, while at the same time providing you with a comprehensive review of their oral/dental health. We also would love to answer any questions that you may have.
